With prices creeping up, it is getting harder and harder to find a dollar slice pizza in New York City. However, since 2001, 99 Cent Fresh Pizza has been serving up hot, fresh pizza around Manhattan and hopefully they will be able to continue to do so for time to come.
New York Dollar Slice Pizza
You can pick up a NYC dollar slice at 99c Fresh Pizza and it is almost impossible to go wrong with this authentic slice of New York pizza at a price of $1.
We visited the outlet at 1723 Broadway. This was close to West 55th Street, a 10 minute to 15 minute walk away from Times Square. (They have a second location closer to Times Square).
From the outside, the shop just advertises itself with a signboard with the words 99c Fresh Pizza in red on a plain white background.
It is sandwiched between the Applejack Diner on its right and a smoke shop on the left and it opens till the wee hours of the morning.
Don’t be surprised to find a queue outside the dollar slice pizza shop.
Even if there is one, it moves quickly as it is counter service only and they serve people quickly.
What’s more, if there is a queue, it usually means that the pizza is being turned out hot.
Cheese Pizza for $1 and More at 99c Fresh Pizza
If you get the cheese pizza, it is just $1. And it is not just the price that is nice, the pizza is too!
The New York slice has a nice crispy crust with a snap and a bite to it.
The cheese on top is nicely baked golden and has just the right amount of oils brought out by the oven to make feel like as decadent as a pizza should be.
The 99c Fresh Pizza cheese slice may just be the best value there is in Manhattan. Don’t just take our word for it; you can read these other reviews too.
The pizza slice gets served on a brown paper plate and you can stand around inside the limited space within the shop to consume it, or take it outside to savoury the cheesy bite.
Fold it in half and dig in.
There is also garlic seasoning, pepper flakes and parmesan powder if you wish to dress up your slice.
If you want to try other types of pizzas, you can also get a pepperoni slice, mushroom slice, ham slice or chicken slice, each for an amazing price of $.175.
The BBQ chicken, chicken ranch and Hawaiian slices are each $2.50.
A complete 18″ pie is $8 for a cheese pie while the pepperoni pie and others start at $12.
Visiting 99 Cent Fresh Pizza
If you want to try a NY dollar slice, you would want to pay a visit to 99c Fresh Pizza. Places like these are getting harder and harder to find and we can only hope that it is able to keep its prices and stay open to deliver this NY experience to all visitors.
