Days Hotel By Wyndham Seoul Myeongdong Review

On a recent trip to Seoul, South Korea, we had the opportunity to stay at Days Hotel by Wyndham Seoul Myeongdong. This was a recommendation that popped up on Booking.com and it had an attractive price point.

Since we were familiar with the Days Hotel brand and knew it to be part of a hotel chain, we were open to considering staying there. However, when we searched online, there was a dearth of recent reviews of Days Hotel by Wyndham Seoul Myeongdong. Most of the reviews that we came across were from 2020 and earlier.

Of course, that’s most likely due to the pandemic. Hence, we felt that this Day Hotel Myeongdong Seoul review would be useful for anyone considering staying there.

Location

Day Hotel Myeongdong Seoul Review Location

One of the best things about Days Hotel by Wyndham Seoul Myeongdong is its location.

Myeongdong is a popular area for tourists to stay in Seoul. Days Hotel by Wyndham Seoul Myeongdong is located at the edge of Myeongdong. It is just a street away from where the popular night market with street food is located. This can be reached by literally going around the corner.

However, since the hotel is not directly facing the night market, it doesn’t get the noise from the crowded market.

Instead, the hotel is along Toegye-ro, which is a busy road in the day but not so much at night.

Days Hotel by Wyndham Seoul Myeongdong is just around 100 meters away from Exit 5 of the Myeongdong Subway station. Take note that Exit 5 only has stairs and does not have an escalator.

Room and Amenities

We stayed at Days Hotel by Wyndham Seoul Myeongdong as a couple.

Room and Amenities: Days Hotel Myeongdong Review

We were in room 707. The room had a double bed and faces the rear of the building. This facing meant that the room was very quiet and peaceful at night as it was away from the main street.

Days Hotel Myeongdong Room Review

The room we stayed in can be described as compact. Once we entered the room, the bed was within arm’s length.

Size of room at Days Hotel Myeongdong

The walkway next to the bed was slightly wider than the width of our suitcase.

Writing desk

Yet, they managed to squeeze in a writing desk, wall-mounted tv and cupboard into the room.

There was a side table on one side of the bed. On the other, the window sill was deep enough to be used as a second side-table space.

Coffee and tea making facilities

There is also a mini fridge, kettle and cups for coffee and tea. Instant coffee and tea were provided, as were two bottle of drinking water, which were replenished every day.

Days Hotel Myeongdong Review: Bedroom

The size of the bedroom is similar to that of hotels in Japan. In a nutshell, this means that the space was very tight.

While the bedsheets were not of the highest thread count (they felt a little rough when we tried them), they were very clean. Spare pillows were also provided in the cupboard.

Days Hotel Myeongdong Bathroom

The bathroom was nicely maintained and modern-looking. It had shower area with both a rain shower and a handheld showerhead. Amenities like toothbrushes were also provided. Overall, the cleanliness of the bathroom was very good.

Power sockets

Conveniently, there were also power sockets on either side of the bed.

Considering it all, from the room cleanliness and amenities to the price we paid (which was very attractive on Booking.com), we were very satisfied with the value of the room.

We especially appreciated that the room faced to the rear of the building, making it especially easy to get a good night’s rest.

The hotel has other amenities such as a restaurant on the second floor.

Menu for the restaurant at Days Hotel Myeongdong

We never had the need to dine at the restaurant as food easily available in the vicinity of the hotel.

Days Hotel Myeongdong Business Center

There is a business corner in the ground floor lobby.

Hidden away on the rooftop is a little area where you can sit and just enjoy being in Seoul, South Korea.

Service

The hotel lobby is located on the ground floor of the hotel. Check-in was very smooth and the staff were able to communicate in English.

Guests need to walk past the front desk in order to get to the lifts, which adds a sense of security to the hotel.

The staff were also very helpful. For example, when we needed to book a taxi to the airport, they were happy to oblige and to even go out of their way to make sure we got one quicker. As a side note, if you do need to book a taxi, let the front desk know in advance.

Overall Impressions

Overall Impressions of Days Hotel Myeongdong

We had a great experience staying at Days Hotel by Wyndham Seoul Myeongdong.

The hotel was well maintained and the room had quite a nice contemporary decor. Most importantly, the room was clean and peaceful, allowing us to get a good night’s rest for our explorations of Seoul.

The hotel would work well for travellers who are visiting Seoul on a budget and want somewhere to stay that is convenient and close to the major attractions.

Myeongdong is right in the heart of the city and close to attractions like N Seoul Tower and Gyeongbokgung Palace. It is just two stops away from Seoul Station where the AREX express train from Incheon Airport arrives.

Airport Bus stop at Myeongdong

The Myeongdong Station bus stop for the airport bus is just down the street along Toegye-ro.

Since we were out for most of the day, we didn’t mind that the room was very small. Instead, we valued the location and proximity to all the attractions that Myeongdong had to offer. We would choose to stay at Days Hotel by Wyndham Seoul Myeongdong if were to be in Seoul again.
