Annunciation Playground can be found at Convent Avenue and Amsterdam Avenue, West 135 Street.
Annunciation Playground gets its name from the Church of the Annunciation which is about a block to the south. It is located beside PS 161 Pedro Albizu Campos. Beside it is Harlem Stage, a performing arts theater.
What’s at the Annunciation Playground?
There are two main play structures at the Annunciation Playground.
Younger children can play on the lower blue and white playground structure. This is made up of a series of low simple platforms that kids can climb upward.
The larger play structure is something that older kids will find more exciting. This comprises of a platform that kids can take one of the ladders to climb up. There are multiple different ways for them to reach the platform.
These range from straight ladders as well as curved ladders. There are also stairs that they can use to get up to the platform.
Once up on the platform, they can play and explore the different nooks and crannies.
There are two slides available to them from the play structure at Annunciation Playground.
There is a twisting slide that descends from the highest point of the playground structure or a straight slide.
Whichever they choose, they are sure to have a fun time.
The ground at Annunciation Playground is mainly padded tiles. These are starting to show their age.
There is a huge field next to the playground. At times, events are held in the field.
