If you are traveling to Singapore, you would most definitely know about the iconic Merlion with water sprouting out of its mouth. This is Merlion Park and we’ve got a guide on how you can get to Merlion Park in Singapore.
Where is Merlion Park?
Merlion Park is located at the edge of the Marina Bay, facing across the water to Marina Bay Sands.
Marina Bay is a roughly rectangular-shaped freshwater reservoir in downtown Singapore. Along the water’s edge, the most prominent building along Marina Bay is the Marina Bay Sands hotel and its three towers that have a “ship” spanning at the very top.
Other prominent landmarks around the water body include Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay and the Merlion Park.
Merlion Park on the opposite side of the bay from Marina Bay Sands hotel.
That also means that you can get a magnificent view of the hotel from Merlion Park.
How to Get Merlion Park
If you are planning to pay a visit to Merlion Park, you may be wondering what is the best way to get there.
By MRT
There are two MRT stations that are closest to Merlion Park. These are:
- Raffles Place MRT Station (NS26/EW14); and
- Esplanade MRT (CC3) Station.
Via Raffles Place MRT Station
If you are arriving on the MRT at Raffles Place MRT Station, exit from Exit B. This will take you up to the ground level at Raffles Place, amidst off the tall building of the financial district.
Once out of the exit, left turn towards CIMB Plaza.
In front of CIMB Plaza, make a left turn and head towards the Battery Road and the Standard Chartered building at Six Battery Road.
From there, you will see the Fullerton Hotel, the colonial building with the orange roof tiles, on the right. Head towards to the Fullerton Hotel. You can cross the road safely at a pedestrian crossing just after the taxi stand.
Head past the Fullerton Hotel to the main road, turn left to follow along the road (known as Fullerton Road) and you will arrive at a traffic light with a pedestrian crossing that will take you across to One Fullerton.
At One Fullerton, head down the stairs and you will be at the waterside of Marina Bay. Merlion Park is on the left.
Via Esplanade MRT Station
If you are arriving via Esplanade MRT Station, look for Exit D.
Follow along the underground passageway and took for the signs pointing to Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay.
At Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay, you can make your way up to the ground level. Once outdoors, you will find the Jubilee Bridge, a pedestrian-only bridge that spans over the water.
Cross the bridge you will arrive at Merlion Park.
Bus to Merlion Park
If you wish to take a public bus to Merlion Park, these are the bus numbers that will take you to the Fullerton Square bus stop (03011) along Fullerton Road. You will then need to cross the road towards One Fullerton to reach Merlion Park:
- 10, 10E, 57, 70, 75, 100, 107, 130, 131, 162, 167, 196, 196e, 850E, 868E, 951, 652, 656, 660, 663, 665
Another bus stop close by is at the OUE Bayfront along Collyer Quay (03019). Buses that arrive there include:
