Lotte Town: Overview of Myeongdong Lotte Department, AvenueL and Lotte Young Plaza
The three buildings, Myeongdong Lotte Department, Avenue L and Lotte Young Plaza, are all part of the Lotte empire in South Korea.
They each serve a different market segment and are also connected to Lotte Hotel Seoul in Myeongdong, making it easy for hotel guests to get their shopping done without even stepping a foot out of the huge complex.
Lotte Department Store is for the general shopper. You can think of it as the equivalent of Takashimaya in Japan.
AvenueL is for those interested in luxury goods and brands.
Lotte Young Plaza is filled with youth-oriented brands.
Collectively, the three buildings are known as Lotte Town. They are connected at the basements and via a sky bridge that is on the 7th floors of the Lotte Department Store and Young Plaza, and the 6th floor of Avenue L.
What’s at Lotte Department Store in Myeongdong
Lotte Department Store has 15 levels with shopping and restaurants. Level 1 is cosmetics while levels 2 to 4 are women’s fashion. Levels 5 and 6 are devoted to men’s fashion, Level 7 has sports, outdoors and kids items, while levels 8 and 9 are home goods and furnishings.
For tourists and overseas visitors, levels 10 to 12 offer duty free shopping. Just be sure to bring along your passport when you visit.
Levels 13 and 14 are restaurants.
Basement 1 is the supermarket and food hall.
What’s at AvenueL
At AvenueL, Basement 1 to Level 3 is filled with luxury brands offering jewelery and accessories, while Level 4 is more lifestyle goods.
Level 5 at AvenueL has a cafe.
Levels 6 to 8 has the cinema while a restaurant and spa can be found at Levels 9 and 10 of the building.
What’s at Lotte Young Plaza
Young Plaza has seven floors with a K-Pop zone in the basement along with a lifestyle shop and young casual clothes from levels 1 to 5.
There is a Kakao Friends shop on Level 1.
The Japanese brands Muji and UNIQLO are also tenants in the building on levels 5 and 6.
There is a rooftop garden at Level 7 known as Charlotte Garden.
This is also where the bridge connecting Young Plaza to the cinemas at AvenueL can be found.
